Sharing a project¶
You can share projects with other users inside and outside your organization, and you can control the access level (e.g., view or edit permissions).
The panel for designating sharing access and access levels can be found from the project page using one of two options:
- Access tab
Edit icon under the Access section on the Project tab right panel
The Access tab provides the following options:
- Organization access
Share access with others in your organization. - External sharing
Share access with those outside your organization.
Organization Access¶
You can designate access at two levels using the respective sections in the panel:
-
Access for all users in the organization
Select from one of the following access levels to share access to all users in your organization:
- Restricted: projects will be visible only to you and users granted individual access
- Shared: projects can be accessed by all users in your organization
-
Organization users with access
Share a project with specific users by selecting a user from the drop-down menu and the access level you want to provide them.
Access Levels¶
When selecting to share with either your entire organization or an individual user, you may choose to grant permission using the following access levels.
Access level | User can view | User can upload data/edit/create/run analyses | User can share project |
---|---|---|---|
Viewer | yes | no | no |
Editor | yes | yes | no |
Admin | yes | yes | yes |
Note
Once a project is shared with you, it will appear on your projects dashboard where you can see your access level as illustrated below.
External Access¶
Projects can be shared outside your organization by providing external access. Enter the email address for those you want to invite and click Invite user.
External users will be given View access by default. You can change this to View, Download, and Copy using the drop-down menu.
Note
External access is currently limited to users who already have an IDEAS account!
